Taiwan is officially the Republic of China. It is located in East Asia. The capital city is called Taipei. Taiwan has a population of 23.5 million people, 95% of whom are Han people, 2% are indigenous Malayo-Polynesian people and the other 2% are new immigrants from Southeast Asia and China.
The common languages spoken in the country include Mandarin (Chinese), Holo (Taiwanese), Hakka and Austronesian languages.
