A degree in dentistry teaches you all about the cause, prevention, management and treatment of oral and dental diseases. This degree usually lasts for five years where the first three years are spent in case discussions in groups, lectures and practical classes. The last two years is spent doing lab work which may involve anatomy dissection and clinical experience.
Core courses in dentistry include anatomy, physiology and biochemistry, as well as practical aptitudes like taking a medical history, doing dental examinations, orthodontics and anesthesia.
