📚 About the Program

As a vocational teacher, you pass on your knowledge and inspire future professionals in your profession. Vocational teacher training is an option for you with qualified professional knowledge that is relevant to upper secondary school vocational subjects. To apply for the training, you need documented work experience. The two-year education gives you authorization to teach vocational programs in upper secondary school and adult education. Today there is a great demand for certified vocational teachers. The demand varies between professional areas, but after your degree you can work throughout the country and often also abroad. The education is given at three-quarter speed (75% study pace) during four semesters and with two to four university days per course. The education consists of 60 higher education credits in courses that deal with issues that are central to teachers. This includes values, leadership, conflict management, assessment and grading as well as curriculum theory and didactics. All courses focus on the connection between vocational training and vocational didactics. As it is expected that you already have subject knowledge in the vocational subjects you are to teach, no training is given in these. Malmö University does not currently accept students for the program orientation crafts hairdresser, barber and hair and makeup stylist as well as textile design due to a lack of relevant VFU places in the region's high schools. The training also includes business-based training (VFU). This is carried out at full speed (100% study rate).
