Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary study at the interface of several scientific disciplines, such as physics, chemistry, molecular biology, mathematics, and informatics. The research-oriented doctoral degree program Nanotechnology aims to educate graduates with an independent and creative approach to nanotechnology, who are able to implement their knowledge in the field of physics for experimental work in the areas focused on the development and application of new materials and nanomaterials. It is a matter of course for students that they will be able to work with demanding high-tech technologies, to further educate themselves in the field, and develop the studied topic. The focus of the study is students' own research activity, led by experienced supervisors and consultants with the target to their doctoral thesis elaboration. In the course of their doctoral study students are engaged in research of physical methods of nanomaterials and nanostructures preparation, study of their physical properties (optical properties, electrical conductivity, magnetism, etc.), and their applications, especially in catalysis, electronics, and photonics.
