📚 About the Program

The Early Childhood Education Program trains qualified educators to work in all Manitoba child care settings with children 0-12 years of age. The two-year training meets the requirements of the Province of Manitoba's Day Nurseries Act . To complete the training program the Technical and Vocational School organizes apprenticeships in the various urban and rural daycare services. Internships take place every semester over the two years. The duration of the internships and the responsibilities related to them gradually increase as the program progresses. A work placement supervisor visits you regularly to provide you with the support you need. Course evaluations are based on written tests essays presentations and team work. After obtaining your diploma in Early Childhood Education if you wish to pursue studies at the bachelor's level in Developmental Studies at the University of Winnipeg you will be able to obtain a total of 30 credits for the purpose of this bachelor's degree. This may qualify for Rank III under the Manitoba Day Nurseries Act . The bachelor's degree offers two areas of specialization: children with special needs and administration. Level III classification provides access to child care management positions in Manitoba.
