As featured in Catholic Extension Magazine, the article Forming Catholic School Leadership Nationwide, highlights LMU's successful and unique 11-month certificate program for Catholic School Leaders. Offered by the School of Education's Department of Educational Leadership and the Center for Catholic Education (CCE), the online certificate program provides professional development specific to Catholic school leadership. The four-course program of study (10 graduate-level units) is uniquely designed to address four major themes in Catholic school administration: mission-focused leadership; faith and spiritual leadership; operational management; and instructional leadership. The integration of faith and professional practice is made relevant through pragmatic and project-based learning experiences that prepare candidates to grow as Catholic school leaders. Certificate coursework is graduate level and also applies towards LMU's online M.A. in Educational Leadership, available with an additional 21 graduate level semester units beyond the certificate. The Certificate in Catholic School Administration offers a personalized online cohort, with synchonous online meetings on Saturdays. Candidates sponsored by Catholic Extension, may meet on campus in Los Angeles for the initial “Invitation to Lead,” a one (1)- unit weekend course generally scheduled in late July/early August.
