We invite driven and enthusiastic PhD candidates to work in computer network operations and machine learning, in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University. The successful applicant will join the Signal Processing and Networks Research Group, under the supervision of Dr Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos.

You will perform high-quality research in one or more of the topics related to computer network management leveraging advances in machine learning techniques. Of particular interest to this post is monitoring activities on network traffic in order to identify and forecast network service availability, reliability and performance. Root cause analysis of performance degradation is an important element to drive cognitive capabilities in next generation network architectures, such as Software Defined Networks (SDNs). SDNs may dynamically apply and re-adjust network policies in real-time, incurring minimal impact in the rest of the environment. Other relevant aspects of this post can include capacity planning, resource utilization, and anomaly/ fault detection.
