📖Program Curriculum

Bachelor of Health Sciences
The Bachelor of Health Sciences program has three majors:

Biomedical Studies
Community and Population Health - Aboriginal and Rural Health
Community and Population Health - Environmental Health
All majors draw courses from the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities to provide students with a broad understanding of issues while preparing them for further studies in diverse areas such as community health, epidemiology, management and administration, medicine, occupational and environmental health, rehabilitation sciences and speech pathology.

Studying with researchers in these diverse health disciplines allows students access to ideas and techniques that will be eventually incorporated into best practices. It is very exciting to be a part of a team that influences how the health sciences are applied, from research, to clinical practice to the community level. Our Faculty are recipients of teaching and research excellence awards.

Honours Program
An optional Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours program will assist in the acquisition of skills and experience that will facilitate applying to medical school and to graduate programs including our Master of Science in Health Sciences, Master of Arts in Disability Management, or the PhD in Health Sciences.

Admission to the honours program takes place after the end of the third year (i.e., upon completion of 90 credit hours) and requires a minimum CGPA of 3.33 over the most recent 30 credit hours, or permission of the School Chair. Consultation with Student Advising is highly recommended before applying. Attaining the minimum requirement does not guarantee admission to the honours program, which is at the discretion of the School Chair. To remain in the honours program, students must maintain a minimum SGPA of 3.33. All honours students complete a thesis project (HHSC 490-6 Honours Thesis) under the direct supervision of a faculty member.
