Master’s in Biochemistry & Biosciences at University College Cork

Our Master of Research (MRes) degree in Biochemistry and Biosciences (formerly named MRes Biochemistry and Cell Biology) is the first scientific, research-intensive MRes course of its kind in Ireland. If you are a highly-motivated, enthusiastic student with an interest in research, this is the ideal platform for you to explore your interests, alongside our team of internationally-recognised researchers in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at University College Cork. The MRes programme combines a 12-month full-time (24-month part-time) research project with select taught modules to enhance each student’s individual skill set. The subject of your research project can be drawn from a number of areas in the field of biochemistry and biosciences including bioanalysis, bioinformatics, proteomics, cancer biology, cell signalling, gene expression, trafficking, molecular genetics, neurobiology, RNA, translational control, or synthetic biology. We place a strong focus on the development of your presentation and writing skills since these are necessary for a successful research career. Our emphasis includes research proposal writing; general and transferable skills in laboratory techniques and safety; research ethics and integrity; information literacy; and science communication skills. Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
