📖Program Curriculum
YEAR 1 In the first year of this Master’s programme you will take five courses related to physics theory, mathematical and computational techniques, applied physics, experimental physics and also ethical and cultural awareness. Together these compulsory courses cover the entire scope of the programme. The five courses are distributed over the four quartiles. As a result, you and your fellow students will get together on a regular basis throughout the first year. One third of the first year consists of these five compulsory courses, another third concerns specialisation courses (with several specialisation topics and a number of recommended courses for each chair), the final third is completely elective.
YEAR 2 The second year is the practical year. You can now choose to focus on fundamental science, e.g. by joining a research group or doing an internship at a research institute abroad. On the other hand, you can also opt for a more engineering driven approach to research, combined with an internship in industry or within a company either in the Netherlands or abroad. The internship takes up approximately one third of your second year. If you want, the programme allows you to extend your internship to five months. We guide you through the entire process in your choices and the career you are about to pursue.
