The school clientele has changed over the years; more and more students have special needs requiring more focused more precise interventions. However there is a significant shortage of qualified professionals in the field of remedial education in French-speaking communities in Canada. Increasingly popular internationally inclusive education enables as many students as possible to succeed and develop to their full potential. This approach which takes into account the specific needs of each person reduces school dropout and fosters feelings of acceptance appreciation and security in the individual. When the specific needs of young people are addressed early they become independent confident productive and healthy citizens later on. The idea of inclusion encompasses not only students with special needs but all those at risk of marginalization and exclusion. The first reason to enroll in the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (DPBE) with specialization in Inclusive Education is the deep desire to help young people. Holders of a DPBE with a specialization in inclusive education promote the inclusion in the school and in the community of students experiencing for example learning behavioral or integration difficulties. Not only will you provide support to meet the varied needs of all students but you will inspire them to continue and succeed in their learning. At the same time obtaining a DPBE with a specialization in inclusive education is a great way to learn about new developments in pedagogy advance your career and possibly reach a higher salary level. Our DPBE with a specialization in inclusive education is open to remedial teachers wishing to perfect their skills and to regular teachers – whether from Western Canada or from another region of the country – wishing to perfect their knowledge or acquire the training required to occupy a position of remedial teacher special education counselor or coordinator of specialized services. 30 credits of the courses below must be taken to meet the program requirements (with no grade lower than C). Classes are offered at the rate of one class per semester during the fall winter and spring semesters. It should be noted that each year the Faculty of Education offers face-to-face and distance learning an intensive one-week course during the month of July. This course is sometimes eligible for the post-baccalaureate degree with specialization in inclusive education.
