Non-degree in The Special Teacher Program: Language, Writing And Reading Development at Malmo University
Do you want to work independently and together with school staff and management to offer support and help for students in various vulnerable situations? Language, writing and reading development is one of three specializations in the special education program. As a special education teacher, you strengthen teaching for the writing and reading development of children, young people and adults. Development of learning environments and carrying out pedagogical investigations and action programs are important parts of the education. As a special education teacher, you work with the mission that all students have the right to support to reach the knowledge goals. An important role is to contribute to good investigation and to design and implement extra adaptations, special support efforts and action programs so that the school maintains high quality. Being both a developer of quality and a qualified interlocutor and advisor for both parents and colleagues in your specialization are other important parts of your work. In order to jointly develop good learning environments, you collaborate with other special teachers, special pedagogues, student health and other important actors in the preschool/school. As a special teacher specializing in language, writing and reading development, you must be able to teach, monitor and assess students' language, writing and reading development. Therefore, it is important that you have good linguistic competence in the Swedish language both orally and in writing. Your part-time studies consist partly of lectures, seminars and basic group work scheduled on campus, approx. 12–14 days in each course, partly of self-study and work in basic groups. Most of the half-term studies in each course are therefore expected to be planned and carried out by you and your base group yourself, and they refer to, among other things, field studies, base group work, auscultation, literature reading and own work with examination tasks. The three-year education is given at half-time and gives a special teacher's degree. This is a program focus of the Special Teacher Program , which is given with three specialisations: Severe language disorder, 90 credits Mathematics development, 90 credits Language, writing and reading development, 90 credits The education includes field studies, i.e. investigative work that is business-related.
