📚About the Program

Next level engineers are drivers of our changing world. If you had to sum up our future in just one word, that word might be 'change'. Change is the only constant over the years. And anything and everything that best adapts to changes can also best prepare for what that changing future has to offer. In our view, the best way to adapt to change is to make sure that you are part of it. It is for this reason that in our master's programme in Next Level Engineering, we put the ability to adapt to changes at the heart of everything we do. We believe next level engineers are the closest of all to 'change'. We believe they are the drivers of it. Therefore, we prepare our students for this changing world by implementing a flexible way of thinking and acting in everything they do. We teach them to approach issues from different, creative and non-obvious perspectives. By creatively combining different key enabling technologies, they learn to engineer solutions that are more sustainable, efficient and effective. We help them to think beyond engineering as a standalone discipline. And we equip them to play a central role between their own business unit and other stakeholders. That is how they get to know their field as a part of the bigger picture. By working on engineering skills this way, they will be better able to collaborate, learn to think more innovatively and have more opportunities in the job market. We prepare our next level engineering students for a versatile career in which they are not only at the cradle of the changes, but they themselves initiate these evolutions. The world is changing faster and faster, and our students get equipped to make the difference in the midst of it all. This way, they own those changes and they become the drivers that push our society forward. Show less

📖Program Curriculum

Year 1
This one-year programme of in total 60 EC is divided into two semesters of each 30 EC. In the first semester, the KET module (10 EC) will introduce you to a selection of key enabling technologies. In parallel, you will participate in a Data Science Project (5 EC), in which you get to work with artificial intelligence, machine learning, data processing, and data visualization.

In the second half of the first semester, you will execute a multidisciplinary project focused on the creation of a design and prototype (15 EC). This will be a real-life assignment from a TIS research group and/or an external partner around at least one key enabling technology. Students from different backgrounds will work together in a group of 3-4 participants. As part of the project, you will work on Advanced Design Skills.

The second semester is devoted to (preparing for) the applied research project, including your graduation project. In the first part of the second semester, you learn to make a clear problem analysis and do literature research. Together with fellow students, you delve deeper into a specific key technology and translate it into a practical solution. During the final part of the programme, you will focus entirely on your graduation research.

Master Next Level Engineering students are expected to form an active learning community. This community consists of you and your fellow students and if necessary, lecturers and researchers of the master team and clients of the projects. This community is like a team of co-workers in your future work environment.
