The Norwegian University of Science and Technology is a public research university in Norway with the main campus in Trondheim and smaller campuses in Gjøvik and Ålesund. The largest university in Norway, NTNU has over 8,000 employees and thousands of students. NTNU is a young institution with a long history. The university, in its current form, was established in 1996 by the merger of six research and higher education institutions in Trondheim. The university's root goes back to 1760, with the foundation of Det Trondhiemske Selskab (Trondheim Academy), which in 1767 became the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters.

📚About the Program

MSc in Project Management is an International programme that aims to develop an understanding of project management with a broad perspective of both International and Norwegian management standards and procedures.

📖Program Curriculum

The Master of Science in Project Management is a two-year programme of study. In the first year the students have six compulsory courses that count for a total of 45 ECTS, and two engineering courses (15 ECTS). In the third semester, the students have one engineering course (7.5 ECTS) an engineering specialization project (15 ECTS) and 7,5 ECTS of theoretical support courses. In the 4th semester, the students write their individual master's thesis (30 ECTS). A strong fluency in English is required as all lectures will be held in English, all course materials will be provided in English, and both the individual specialization project and master theses should be written in English of high quality. Experts in Teams is an obligatory course for all students in the second semester.

Programme specialization

Within the program the students choose one of the three specializations: 1) Civil Engineering, 2) Industrial Engineering or 3) Production and Quality Engineering.

Depending upon the engineering specialization, chosen in the first semester, the students will take their specialization project and the master's thesis at one of the three collaborating departments: 1) Department of civil and Environmental Engineering, 2) Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management, or 3) Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

The deadline for choosing one of the three specialization is in the first semester at the same date as the deadline for confirming the individual study plan.

Civil Engineering:

Do you want to take part in changing the world? To solve the traffic challenges of the big city? Provide clean water to the people of the Earth? Build the world’s most environmentally friendly buildings? And construct safe bridges and tunnels? Project Managers in Civil Engineering are responsible for the construction and maintenance of the systems on which we depend; roads, bridges, clean water supply, sewers, energy supply, constructing homes, and developing the cityscape.

Industrial Engineering:

Do you want to operate in the crossroads between technology, business and management? As a Project Manager in Industrial Engineering you will manage complex challenges in interdisciplinary teams.

Production and Quality Engineering:

This specialization is located with the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, a cross-disciplinary department working with construction, infrastructure, energy, ICT, and product/technology development projects. The project management group at the department runs Project Norway, an R&D-based center with approximately 35 of the largest and most influential project companies in Norway as partners. By working with researchers in the group and these companies, you can help make large and small projects more sustainable, innovative, nicer to work in, etc. You will be actively involved in research projects and linked to companies when writing your master thesis.

The minimum age is 18.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker

Minimum education level: Bachelor's.

The program is competitive, you need to have a high grades of Average A, 70%, or a high GPA.

Once submitted to Global Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
