Bachelor’s in
Arts Education at
University of Quebec Trois Rivieres
The four-year bachelor's program in arts education aims to train a professional in arts education, capable of acting at both levels of education (preschool/primary and secondary). To ensure a certain versatility for future teachers and to give them an interdisciplinary experience, the program includes three different paths: 1) plastic arts; 2) new media and 3) drama. The first allows students to deepen the visual arts and the other two allow them to learn about a second discipline.
The assurance of quality training is based on the presence, within the student's path, of four fields of competence that characterize the profession of specialist arts teacher. Thus disciplinary training, training in psychopedagogy, practical training in the school environment and training related to professional skills enacted by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEES), are provided in a harmonious way in order to create a coherent whole.
As far as disciplinary training is concerned, several courses are offered jointly to visual arts students and students in arts education. In addition to the compulsory courses of basic artistic practice, there are optional courses where the student pursues his artistic investigation in a sphere of specialization that targets more his interests in terms of creation. In addition, it should be noted that the interdisciplinary aspect is particularly present in the Interdisciplinary Synthesis Project course where students are encouraged to participate intensely in the production of an innovative collective work.
It should be added that the practical training is part of a model of consultation with the school community which participates, year after year, in the evaluation of the program.

Work with the members of the teaching team to carry out the tasks allowing the development and the evaluation of the skills targeted in the training program, and this, according to the students concerned.
